šŸ‚ Starting Fresh in October

There’s something magical about the way October arrives. The air shifts, the light softens, and suddenly everything feels ripe for new beginnings. For me, October has always been one of the most special months of the year—not only is it my birthday month, but many of my most treasured travel memories have taken place in October. It’s a month full of adventure, reflection, and coziness all at once.

This year, the theme of fresh starts feels even more powerful because I’m moving into a new house. It’s a big change, and while moving is always a little chaotic, I’ve been thinking of it as the ultimate reset. Out with clutter, in with new corners of comfort. It feels like such a gift to be able to shape a space that will hold not only my daily routines but also my creative life.

šŸ” The Power of a Reset

One of my favorite things about the beginning of a new month is the chance to pause and reset. Fall especially reminds me that letting go is necessary before we can welcome something new. Just like the trees dropping their leaves, we get to decide what to release so we can make room for growth.

A few simple ways I like to reset at the start of a new month:

  • Declutter one area of my home (a desk, a drawer, a closet).

  • Add cozy touches—candles, blankets, or a seasonal mug.

  • Make a fresh playlist to set the tone for writing and working.

  • Set intentions for what I want to focus on in my creative life.

āœļø Resetting My Writing Life

I’ll be honest—I’ve been in a bit of a slump since sending Echoes of Us off to my publisher. That strange in-between space, where one project is out of your hands but the next hasn’t fully taken shape, can be tough. But October feels like the perfect time to step back into my writing with fresh energy.

This month, I’m focusing on:

  • Creating cozy rituals around my writing—like journaling in the mornings with a hot drink.

  • Refreshing my writing space with small seasonal touches.

  • Being gentle with myself as I ease back into drafting.

Writing, like the seasons, has rhythms. Sometimes it’s about growth, sometimes about rest, and sometimes about simply planting seeds. October feels like planting season for me—setting the groundwork for stories that will come.

šŸ Why I Love October

October holds a special kind of magic. The days are cooler, the leaves are changing, and everything seems to invite us to slow down. For me, it’s also a month of celebration—of where I’ve been, where I’m going, and how I can create joy and coziness along the way.

As I move into my new house and into a new season of writing, I’m holding onto this sense of fresh beginnings. October, with its golden afternoons and crisp evenings, feels like the perfect partner for creativity.

Here’s to a cozy, inspiring October—for me, and for you too. šŸ‚āœØ
