Finding Inspiration in the Fall
The past few weeks have felt a little strange. After sending Echoes of Us off to my publisher, I thought I’d feel relief and a rush of creative energy. Instead, I’ve found myself in a bit of a slump—hovering between projects, jotting down notes here and there, but never quite landing in that satisfying flow of words.
It’s the in-between space that every writer knows too well. The book I’ve poured years into is out of my hands for now, but my mind hasn’t yet settled into the next big story. Part of me wants to leap ahead, while another part just needs rest after such a long push.
Still, I can feel the shift in the air. Fall is coming, and with it that crisp, cozy energy that always pulls me back to the page. There’s something about the season—the quiet mornings with a warm mug in hand, the early evenings, the sound of leaves crunching underfoot—that feels like an invitation to slow down and write.
I’m reminding myself that it’s okay to sit in the slump for a while. Inspiration doesn’t always strike in a thunderclap—it often arrives in small, steady sparks. I’m trusting that the rhythm of autumn will help reignite my words, and I’m excited to see where they take me next.
If you’ve ever found yourself in this kind of lull, know you’re not alone. Sometimes we just need a season to breathe, reset, and remember why we love storytelling in the first place.
Here’s to new beginnings, crisp pages, and the magic of fall. 🍂
